The Rampage Speedboat is a small, nimble RC boat that’s perfect for fun in the pool, a local pond or a nearby lake. It reaches speeds of 20+ km/h, rights itself if it flips over and costs less than 500 kroner. It’s a great first boat for kids aged 8 and up — and a fun way for everyone else to spend an afternoon.

Rampage isn’t a racing boat, and it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s made for calm freshwater settings: a trip to the holiday home, an afternoon by the lake or simply a bit of fun in the pool. It performs surprisingly well for the price, and 20+ km/h is more than enough to get a laugh from even the most jaded spectators on the shore.

If the boat ends up upside down, it rights itself and is ready to go again. It’s one of those features you really appreciate when the alternative is swimming out to retrieve the boat in water that’s far too cold.

The 2.4 GHz radio system has a range of 50 metres. The boat also alerts you when the battery is running low or you’re about to go out of range. Little details like these make it easy to use, especially for beginners.

Rampage comes ready to sail, with a 2S 7.4V Li-ion battery pack and a USB charger. You’ll need to supply 2 AA batteries for the transmitter. Choose from silver or brown.

The build quality is good for the price — sturdy enough for everyday fun and sailing in freshwater, but not designed for big waves or rough handling around docks and rocks. Treat it like the little fun boat it is, and it’ll keep going.

REMEMBER: Never sail somewhere you wouldn’t be willing to swim out and retrieve the boat.
