All about Shadow Storm

Description

Shadow Storm is a large RC speedboat for kids aged 8+ and beginners who want to get out on the water with something that looks great and is easy to get started with. It’s about 45 cm long, has a manageable top speed of up to 18 km/h, and comes as a complete package with battery, charger and transmitter.

Jet drive - no exposed propeller

What makes Shadow Storm special is its jet drive. The boat is powered by a protected system inside the hull instead of an exposed propeller. It’s a great choice for a beginner boat, since there’s no propeller and shaft underneath the hull that could hit the bottom, water plants or fingers when you lift the boat out of the water.

Speed you can handle

Shadow Storm isn’t designed to be the wildest boat on the lake. A top speed of up to 18 km/h is still plenty of fun as you watch the boat cut through the water, while making it easier to keep under control than the fastest speedboats. That makes for a better first experience - and fewer trips around the lake to retrieve your boat.

The coolest things about Shadow Storm:

  • Large RC speedboat, about 45 cm long
  • Jet drive with no exposed propeller
  • Manageable top speed of up to 18 km/h

Self-righting and motor cooling

If the boat capsizes, its self-righting feature helps it get back upright. That’s a handy feature when you’re still learning to drive. The boat also has water cooling for the motor, so it’s ready for regular use on the lake or in the harbor.

Always use the boat in freshwater, and make sure to wipe it down after use. Open the hatches too and let the boat dry completely if any water has gotten inside. Avoid saltwater - it quickly wears down the boat’s electronics and metal parts.

Battery and charging

Shadow Storm comes with a rechargeable 7.4 V 2000 mAh Li-ion battery and a USB charging cable. Expect around 10-15 minutes of run time and about 2 hours to charge. The remote control uses 3 x AA batteries, which are not included. You’ll need a USB-A adapter for charging.

Tips from the workshop

Shadow Storm is a really great place to start if you want a good-looking, large speedboat without jumping straight into extreme speed and a vulnerable exposed propeller. It’s a boat that makes it easy to enjoy your first runs on the water.
